Casting for The Hunger Games movie is still underway, but there have been several big announcement recently. So it’s worth taking a look at the cast as a whole so-far, before Lionsgate makes another flurry of announcements.
And if this past week was any indication, casting announcements will likely continue to come quickly, especially as filmmakers move closer to starting production by the end of May.
Below, you’ll find a look at all of the Hunger Games cast member so-far (and check out the slideshow on your left to view all of their photos):
Though some fans haven’t quite warmed up to her casting yet, Lawrence brings with her the experience of several independent films, the upcoming blockbuster X-Men: First Class and her Oscar-nominated performance in last year’s Winter Bone. Director Gary Ross said of her casting, “Katniss requires a young actress with strength, depth, complexity, tenderness, and power. There are very few people alive who can bring that to a role. Jen brings it in spades. She’s going to be an amazing Katniss.”
Also fresh-off an Oscar-nominated project (last year’s The Kids Are Alright), Hutcherson brings to the role of Peeta years of experience in Hollywood. Though young, Hutcherson has been acting for half his life, and has taken on a variety of roles from the dramatic to the comedic. “I feel so lucky that we found someone who embodies every aspect of such a complex character,” Ross said of Hutcherson. Author Suzanne Collins added, “Josh totally captured Peeta’s temperament, his sense of humor and his facility for language. I’m thrilled to have him aboard.”
