Meet Colton Haynes. Colton is best known for his portrayal of Jackson on Teen Wolfe.
Savanna: Unless there’s some sort of unspoken rule that at least one Abercrombie model must be cast in each film in the franchise, I’m not sure why Colton Haynes should be considered for the part of Finnick. He’s obviously incredibly attractive, but like many of the other actors we’ve discussed in the Finding Finnick Odair series, he’s too young. He’s 23, a year younger than Finnick is in Catching Fire, but he could pass for a teenager (and is currently playing one on Teen Wolf), which isn’t a good thing. I’m not really familiar with his work, so I don’t feel qualified to judge his acting abilities, but I personally haven’t heard or seen anyone praising his talent. Adam adds: This wolf would be better off noshing away at vampires and other supernaturals, leaving the complexities of Finnick Odair to a true character actor. Remember: Finnick is stunningly handsome, but he also has depth. Surely, there must be a top-notch actor on this Earth who also happens to be really really, ridiculously good-looking.
Amanda: The more pictures of Colton Haynes that I look at, the more attractive and Finnick-like he seems to me. And I love the fact that he’s a fan of The Hunger Games, as so many of the other cast members are. But I can’t weigh him fairly for the role of Finnick because I’ve never seen any of the TV shows he’s appeared on, and unfortunately, his IMDB page doesn’t leave me too confident in his acting abilities. I may be wrong – perhaps he can pull off the emotional depths required for Finnick – though for now I can’t say I’m a huge fan of him for the role.
Crystal: I’ve never heard of Colton Haynes until now and I have to say that judging by looks alone, I’m not a big Colton supporter. I can’t really describe it, but he just looks like he’s not real. He looks like a store mannequin for some reason! If they ever made a live action Toy Story 3, he’d make a perfect Ken doll. I haven’t seen him in anything, so I really don’t know how his acting skills are. I’m sorry, but I think there’s a better Finnick out there! :(
