We all have our favorite scenes from the book that we would just die if they weren’t in Catching Fire, but it’s always good to calm down and discuss what scenes are essential for building up Katniss as a character in the film and moving her forward as she does in the books: And Yahoo! UK did just that, do you agree with their list? WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE BOOKS (and in that case, please do;-)!
1. District 11 scenes
Many of the important scenes in the ‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ novel take place in District 11. This is one of the poorer, agricultural sectors of Panem. While resident in District 11, we see several key scenes that underline the themes of the book, including passionate speeches from Peeta and Katniss, and the witnessing of a man being executed by being shot in the head. These events play a significant part in the events that unfold later.
2. Katniss and Peeta intimacy
When Katniss and Peeta share a bed for the first time in the novel, it is as a security blanket to protect themselves against the nightmares that they’re suffering from. This is a particularly important sequence in their blossoming relationship.
. Katniss defends Gale
Throughout ‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’, Katniss is torn between survival instincts and idealism. When she defends Gale as he is being whipped as a punishment, it is a critical step towards doing the right thing over surviving.
4. Want a sugar cube?
One sequence particularly beloved of fans of the novel is the scene where Finnick offers Katniss a sugar cube intended for horses. This is a light-hearted and flirtatious scene which would provide some light relief from the deadly tale at the heart of the ‘Hunger Games’ universe.
5. District 12
It seems inconceivable that this could be omitted or altered in some way, but the revelations regarding District 12, and the stunned response of Katniss, would seem to be an ideal way to end the movie.

Could the Hunger Games : Catching Fire surpass the original? That is the question and Yahoo! Movies UK & Ireland thinks yes it could :

Very few film sequels have managed to not just match the first in the series but actually surpass it. If the books are anything to go by, ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ may do just that. Having won the games in the first film, along with fellow district twelve contestant Peeta Mellark, Katniss Everdeen wants nothing more than to return home and disappear once more but her actions in the games have made this impossible. Their win has brought the eyes of the entire nation of Panem to district twelve, with many of the angry citizens looking to her to lead them out of the world they live in. Katniss, though, does not want to lead anyone. She doesn’t want the responsibility and thinks only of keeping her loved ones safe from harm.
While the first film merely introduced the terrifying idea of forcing a smile on your face while your very existence is threatened, this sequel is set to delve far deeper into the world of Panem and its sinister political undertones. It explores the inner turmoil that comes with wanting to survive but also wanting to fight. Suzanne Collins’s novel was clever, gripping, action-packed and intensely emotional. With Jennifer Lawrence back in the lead role of Katniss for the film, a new director at the helm and the introduction of some great new characters, ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ looks set to be even more of a captivating and thrilling ride than ‘The Hunger Games’.

The Hollywood Reporter recently spoke with composer T.T.L. about their inspiration for the song Beyond the Fire featured in the Catching Fire teaser trailer. Here’s an excerpt from their interview :
Traditionally, a track composed specifically for a film trailer isn’t treated as its own song, deserving of an individual release. But for T.T.L., an electronic project formed of musical artist Tying Tiffany and Italian producer Lorenzo Montana, scoring trailers is an opportunity to create new music than can live outside its initial format. The duo, signed with Brooklyn-based music production and sync agency ZerOKilled Music, has created music for various trailers, including Battleship, The Hunger Games and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. “Beyond Fire,” which is featured in the recent trailer for Catching Fire, was released via iTunes on Friday and functions as an autonomous single.
The instrumental number, an epic, darkly toned track, falls somewhere between classical orchestration and EDM-tinged ambiance. The pair, who previously penned “Deep Shadow” for the first Hunger Gamestrailer, wrote the song with the film’s sensibility in mind.
“There’s an extreme confidentiality around the trailers world so, except for a brief description of the plot, they don’t give us a lot of information,” Tiffany says. “In the case of The Hunger Games trailers, we actually read the trilogy books to get deeper into the atmosphere of the story. While writing the music we got inspired thinking about the sense of sacrifice, survival and revolution present in the books. It was not too hard to get into this mood, since these are issues that we are living in now, in this moment of history.”
