April 26-28, 2013 was the fourth annual Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2).

While not near the scope or impact of the San-Diego Comic Con or the New York Comic Con, C2E2 has solidified itself as the biggest convention in the Midwest and a summit for all things comics, television, movies, and pop culture.

Blacksparrow Auctions had an exhibit of multiple costumes from The Hunger Games as part of their tour through the states. In October, the costumes will be auctioned off at The New York Comic Con.

In a new interview, Nelson Ascensio talks about getting the role of stylist Flavius in both The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, and reading the books. Glad to hear Nelson has enjoyed the books so much! Meanwhile, he’s pretty tight-lipped about Catching Fire!

Canada’s Constellation Awards is coming June 22, and The Hunger Games and Jennifer Lawrence have both earned nominations. The Hunger Games is nominated in the Best Science Fiction Film, TV movie, or mini-series of 2012 category. Jennifer Lawrence is nominated for Best Female Performance in a 2012 Science Fiction Film, TV movie, or mini-series category.

If those categories sound a little more obscure to you, that’s because the Constellation Awards celebrates “excellence in Science Fiction film and television.” I don’t know about you, but I love sci-fi so it’s great that Canada has awards just for that genre.

Exciting news! Jennifer Lawrence takes home the Best Actress award at the Jameson Empire Awards today for her role as Katniss in The Hunger Games. Since we didn’t get to see the actual ceremony, here’s what they had to say at the live blog over at Empire Online:

Presenting this next one is a man who recently ventured into A Field In England with Ben Wheatley – so he’s a braver man than we are – and survived to take a crack at playing Patrick Troughton in Doctor Who story An Adventure In Space And Time. It’s Reece Shearsmith! “Being an actress myself, I know how much it means to win this. I have a little anecdote here I’d like to share with you – if you could just pass that around [goes down to give a piece of paper to an audience member]”

And the winner is JENNIFER LAWRENCE for The Hunger Games rather than Silver Linings Playbook (or SILVER LININGS (playbook) here in the UK), because Empire voters don’t get freaked out by genre movies. She can’t be with us tonight because she’s still hunger gaming somewhere. That, or she tripped on the way to the red carpet and hasn’t gotten up yet. Either way, may the odds be ever in her favour. And she has sent a message, which Shearsmith reads.

I love Rebel Wilson, so I was excited to see this new interview from Buzzfeed where Rebel mentions being a fan of Jennifer Lawrence and recently meeting about a possible role in the next Hunger Games movie!  What role do you think Rebel could play in Mockingjay?

RW: Yeah, yeah, and I’ve met her. I met her at a party and she was super-duper nice. She’s really quite tall. Which I found — I don’t know if you get that impression when you see her in movies, but she’s quite tall. Yeah, and she’s just really nice and I love The Hunger Games and I can’t wait for the new one to come out.

Ooh, would we ever see you in a role in The Hunger Games?

RW: Um, seriously, I have had a meeting about being in The Hunger Games. Yes.

Oh! In what district?

RW: It was one of the people in the capitol. That’s all I’ll say.

That would be good. That’s a good choice.

RW: Yeah, because there aren’t a lot of roles open, because they’ve all already been cast, but that would be awesome. I’d love to be in The Hunger Games.
