Arcade Fire‘s “Scenes from the Suburbs” took the award for Best Recording Package.

The Decemberists “Down By the Water” lost Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song to Foo Fighters’ “Walk.”

Next Movie Talks ‘The Hunger Games Soundtrack’ So Far

We have only had one song and a few clues as to who will be featured on the upcoming and widely anticipated Hunger Games soundtrack, but it’s safe to say we have some good things in store! Check out some fan reactions to “Safe and Sound” and some music analysis from Next Movie below!

We’re only a few artist announcements deep and already a vision for “The Hunger Games” soundtrack is becoming clear: Go big or stay far, far away from the arena.

Starting out with one of today’s most popular young songstresses, Taylor Swift, was a surefire way to begin the story of this soundtrack series with a bang. Her “Safe and Sound” (with The Civil Wars) quickly climbed iTunes charts and sparked rampant speculation about its likely placement in the film.

“All I can imagine is the scene with Prim and Katniss, who is consoling her sister,” tweets @PO_Desdemona. “The song is good.”

“I do see [Katniss] with Rue, but it’s just the overall down and blue feeling,” writes one of our commenters about the song. “There is a big sense of protecting ones close to you and this song’s lyrics and music captures both the down trodden vibe and love vibe the characters, especially Katniss, feel.”

“It describes Peeta and Katniss perfectly,” tweets @karaannz.

We already knew that Jennifer Lawrence would be featured singing “Rue’s Lullaby,” but since Swift’s big announcement, Win Butler, The Decemberists and Regine Chassagne of The Arcade Fire have been declared additional contributors to the soundtrack album. Where Swift reaches pop and country audiences, these two groups tap into the folk and indie rock regime, keeping the artist pool diverse and hip at the outset.

HUNGER GAMES SOUNDTRACK (March)

If you thought you’d have to wait a few decades to see Taylor Swift collaborate with T Bone Burnett, they had a more accelerated schedule in mind. They hooked up with the Americana duo the Civil Wars for “Safe and Sound,” the lead single from the soundtrack to the wildly anticipated teen-dystopia film. Burnett also enlisted the Decemberists, Arcade Fire, and others yet to be announced for the companion album. Leading lady Jennifer Lawrence is said to make a vocal contribution, too.

More details on Arcade Fire and the Decemberist involvement in the Hunger Games soundtrack

News broke late last week about the involvement of Arcade Fire and The Decemberist on the highly anticipated Hunger Games sound track.  In a report from The Hollywood Reporter, more details have emerged regarding the specific involvement of the groups and the title of the songs that will be on the sound track.

According to the Hollywood Reporter :

Arcade Fire’s Win Butler and Regine Chassagne, who won the 2011 Grammy for album of the year, also wrote a song with Burnett entitled “Horn Of Plenty.” The Decemberists did their own song, “One Engine,” also to appear on The Hunger Gamescompanion album.

All artist deals were negotiated for Lionsgate by Lenny Wohl, executive vp of music business affairs, and by Universal Republic’s senior vp of business affairsMichael Seltzer.

Based on this report, it appears that 2 members of Arcade Fire has collaborated with T.Bone Burnett for a song on the soundtrack, and not actually the band itself. The Decemberist however looks like they will have a song on the soundtrack.

Our international Braziliam affiliates at JogosVorazes.net posted information from an Arcade Fire News Twitter account but is not Arcade Fire itself. The Arcade Fire News twitter posted the following tweets  :

1) Horn of Plenty = instrumental piece 2) Not by Arcade Fire 3) Written by Win and Regine

This instrumental piece should not be considered an Arcade Fire song. It’s more of a side project  by Win and Regine.

As we learn more soundtrack information, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
